Anna North has a rather challenging article on Vox – “If
Trump won’t concede, these activists have a plan.”
She discusses specifically Black Lives Matter, the Sunrise
Movement, and the Women’s March.
Ideas like general strikes are in play. There are notes that activists often host one
another at home and take the “Covid” risk.
There was a study last summer (reported in a Colorado paper) indicating that protests
in some cities might actually have slowed the spread of COVID by encouraging
many people to stay home to avoid the disruptions. I still have not heard many reports of
protesters (or the journalists covering them) becoming ill or testing positive.
I wanted to cite a Tweet of a fictitious “lockdown
agreement” . Note my take, and note the overtones
of social creditworthiness and solidarity in option 1. It is frightening how easy an external crisis makes someone into nothing.
