"Words matter": important column today on speech on the margins of hate, even by political candidates

Petula Dvorak has an important column today, December 1, 2015, about the practical dangers from inflammatory speech, particularly in areas like abortion, race and religion (and sometimes homophobia), link in the Washington Post here.
She seems to be implying that some political candidates are committing the moral equivalent of shouting fire in a crowded theater.

I can recall that in late 2013, when I submitted my book manuscript to Xlibris (for DADT-III) the “content review” step was described as, in part, a measure to ensure that a submission did not constitute “hate speech”.
